Planning Your Visit
Layer Marney Tower is a grand Tudor house of Italian design. Built as a statement house by Henry, Lord Marney, it was visited by both Henry VIII and later by his daughter Elizabeth I. The house is unfinished, Lord Marney died before he could complete the building and his son, John, died two years later leaving only daughters who were unable to inherit.
Visitors to Layer Marney Tower can enjoy climbing to the top of the Tower, wandering through the gardens and following the Wildlife Walk. They may then enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake in the Tea Room and to buy a souvenir in the shop.We welcome well behaved dogs on leads in the grounds.
