August is a month full of treats
This whole year has been a bit crazy. The tower and gardens have never been so beautiful (and this said by someone who has never been so involved in the gardening before). I think 2020 will be known as the Year of the Roses. They have burst out, full of bloom and scent, adding real colour and delight. The one frustration is that so few people up to now have been able to enjoy them. But not any more….
We are now fully open, Sunday to Thursday from 11am – 5pm.We have a one way system that allows you to wander up the tower, dropping off to see the NEW display of Dolls Houses, the VIctor Batte-Lay pictures, the Crowns and Crest from the Garter Chapel in WIndsor Castle before reaching the roof to inspect the fantastic view. You now come down the other side. Where the route is not one way we even have marked out passing places (very Scottish). That way we hope social distancing can be maintained while you are inside.
The Tea Room has been moved out of the Edwardian stable and fills the enormous, elegant Long Gallery. The stables are open and we have moved the Bath Chair in. At last the Bath Chair has the space to have its shafts attached. It makes the Mobility Scooter look positively small!
Our August treats are our way of saying welcome back. Through the month of August we are reducing our entry fee. It will be £6.00 for Adults, £4.00 for children and a Family Ticket for 2 adults and 2 children will be £18.00. Do come and take advantage. There is plenty of space to run around, sit and enjoy the sunshine or learn a little bit of history.
When you feel the need to treat yourself the Tea Room is part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and so on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through August we are offering half price food and soft drinks.Doesn’t a little Quiche and Salad sound tempting?
