Myra’s Collection

On long-term loan from Andrew English, who’s mother, Myra, made most of them, we are delighted to be have them on show, a wonderful display of Myra’s extraordinary lifetime’s work.

We have an eclectic mix of miniatures, made up of hundreds and hundreds of tiny artefacts made by Myra.  We have houses, scenes and shops and they are all charming.  The scenes range from a child’s nursery, garden shed, a Victorian and a 1950’s kitchen and what can only be described as a junk room, stuffed to the rafters with everything from an old Singer sewing machine to an abandoned skeleton.  There is a China Shop, Shoe Shop, Christmas  Shop, Bakers and even a luxurious Faberge Shop.

There is so much to see, the more you look, the more there is to discover.  We are learning that it is possible to find out how people lived, just by looking into their miniature worlds.  A whole new approach to history for us.
