Have you thought about a winter wedding?
As the nights draw in and the Festive Season approaches, maybe it’s time to think about how wonderful a winter wedding can be.
With our state of the art biomass heating system, the Long Gallery at Layer Marney Tower is cosy and warm with a massive basket of logs ready to stoke the fire, everything sparkles.
Vintage glamour lends itself to this season, with glittering golds and ivory, pine cones and candy canes, alongside huge balls of mistletoe and holly and trailing dark green ivy against the crisp white linen tablecloths. Bringing the mystery of the deep dark fairy tale forest into your celebrations, sets the scene and it is stunning.
Getting the lighting right for winter weddings is even more imortant than in the summer as there are more hours of darkness, so a perfect chance to enjoy a surfeit of candles and twinkling fairy lights. Make an archway of lights to lead your guests into the Long Gallery, or hang lanterns round the Courtyard.
Julia from W Flowers suggests “a grey/white theme with sparkly things” she continues that “red works really well in the Long Gallery with dark foliage. Go wild with oodles of candleabra entwined with eucalyptus”.
Choose hot canapaes and mulled wine, dress up in faux fur and have a box of blankets on hand to keep your guests snug and warm.
