There are six tented encampments in the grounds of Layer Marney Tower each named after one of the wives of Henry VIII.
Each encampment has a main tent sleeping up to 6 people in comfortable beds, there is a plumbed in loo, cold running water to the kitchen sink, and battery operated lights. A comfortable sofa and large table and a wooden floor running throughout and onto a large veranda, that adds 1/3 to the living space. There is an indoor and outdoor cooking stove fuelled by logs that are provided. There is a private shower. Three of the encampments have hot tubs (book them through Featherdown)
There is a small shop that will supply items you might have forgotten and we can order food in for you.
We enjoyed a truly unique and serene experience our weekend, Layer Marney Tower and its hosts were fabulous. The tents and location was very tranquil, hot tub was amazing and we especially enjoyed bottle feeding the lambs and walking round the Tower and grounds
We came for the first time to celebrate our 10th wedding annivarsary and had a fantastic time! Right in the nature, the kids kept getting in and out of the hot tub all day long, we built a den and saw baby deer. I wouldn’t for the world have spent that time in a 5 star hotel!
Relaxed and enjoyable, loved the den building, hammock swinging, paella cooking, bike riding and of course, the fire pit.
Our favourite Featherdown so far.
We loved it, it was a real hit with the children. The tent was fabulous with fun sleeping areas for the girls, electricity, warmish shower and lots of cooking areas. It was great fun making pizzas with the owners on the Saturday night.
What can I say, what an experience. We had a great time at Layer Marney Tower. Lord Nick (as we called him) was an absoulte super star nothing was too much for him. Our party had organised a murder mystery dinner party and due to the cold weather he even heated the Long Gallery (which was a great setting for the event) i the Tower for us to use. We will definitely be going back better prepared. Would be great for children in the safe environment.
