Fresh air, space and hello schools
We have been having to do things a little differently this year and it has certainly made us look at the place with new eyes. We have very beautiful buildings set in a landscape that has taken generations to create. We have been adding to it ourselves with avenues of trees, new ponds and lots of hedge care and maintenance for a long time. What I realise this means, is we have a wonderful outdoor space and it has brought people to us throughout the summer. The Essex Boys and Girls Club have been bringing groups to stomp about the woods. The Hare and Tortoise runners have become a regular feature. The Kite Day saw a great group of kites soaring in the big field. We have had lots of visitors who have enjoyed the gardens and space as much as they have climbing the Tower and seeing all the exhibitions.
It does something wonderful to the mind. It feels like we have had some of the friendliest and cheeriest visitors ever!
So much has been heard and seen about the challenges the schools are having. Stress and worry, both for the teachers and the children, seem to be the key words. I was thinking that we wouldn’t see any schools this year. How wrong I was. We have had our first school, all dressed up in Tudor costume looking just the part. Everyone, our Education Team, the teachers and the children had a fun day. I received such a nice thank you letter from the Year Leader.
It is amazing what a little fresh air and sunshine can do for one’s morale. It was so nice to hear the excited chatter and see the smiling faces of the children. We are very lucky that we can offer the place exclusively to the children so they can run about and not worry about breaking out of their bubbles. We all need to take this Covid virus seriously. We have followed all the precautions asked and in our “Loo of the Year 2010” have a great supply of wash hand basins, hot water and Soap to give those hands a thorough washing! Having had such a successful day can I say to schools, “Come on, brave it. Come and have a breath of fresh air, some excellent teaching and a happy day out” We will look after you!
