Layer Marney Tower has all sorts of different Events throughout the year. Some are organised by us and some are put on by other people. Some are inside and others are outside. Some are free and others require tickets booked in advance.

Come on your own or with friends and be taken on a Guided tour full of history and stories about Layer Marney Tower. Often guided by a member of the family the tour goes from one end of the building to the other.

Bank Holiday Sunday

Come and see Layer Marney Tower and the Essex Barn after all the work. Gardens, Church and Play Area all open. Tower and Exhibitions all open. Tea Room will be in the Long Gallery, offering plenty of space. If the weather is lovely bring a picnic.

Tudor Legacies at Layer Marney Tower

As part of the house opening Henry VIII will be wandering around Layer Marney Tower and will be bring all six of his wives. They are a friendly bunch and are more than happy to chat. Come and find out more about the Tudor times and may be have yourself a selfie with Jane Seymour!
Later on, if you bring a kite you can take it to the big field to fly

Layer Marney Cup Fuel Trial

If you want to come in and watch all sorts of cars, from as early as the 1920’s being weighed as the final stage of the Layer Marney Cup, then plan your visit to finish in the afternoon. The Tower, gardens, church and Essex Barn will be open as usual and this will be an added extra to your visit!

The village of Layer Marney organise a good old-fashioned fete once a year. Moved from May to August this year it is your opportunity to smash plates, buy jam, splat the rat and enter your dog into one of the silliest of Dog Shows.
