A selection of musical instruments and choir to entertain you in the beautiful surroundings of The Tower and gardens.

Performers include a trio of recorders comprised of Elizabeth Alexander, Annette Gentleman and Felicity Squire. Elizabeth will also perform a baroque solo.

We  also welcome the Alleyn Court Ensemble and Senior Choir. Head of Music at Alleyn Court, Sophie-Anne Chaplin is proud to present a variety of music and song from her pupils as well as performing with her friend. We anticipate other musicians to join us for the day and further information will be published soon.

Alleyn Court Ensemble

Dominic and Madison are our music captains at Alleyn Court and have been performing together since September 2022.  Both playing multiple instruments and singing in the choir, they are fantastic assets to the school, and we cannot wait to share their talent with you!

Alleyn Court Senior Choir

The Senior Choir at Alleyn Court has been performing together since September 2022.  They have performed at St Augustine’s Church and St Kathryn’s Care Home and their ages range from years 4 to 6.  We hope you will enjoy their wonderful voices and talented performances.

Fiddlenfrets

Sophie-Anne Chaplin BMus ATCL LTCL and Alex Abbott DipLCM ATCL LTCL have been performing together for 14 years.  From garden parties and classical concerts to festivals and competitions, they have been playing a variety of styles and composers, from Bach to Sarasate, up and down the country.  Alex is currently a peripatetic teacher to multiple schools and Sophie-Anne is Director of Music at Alleyn Court Preparatory School.

Recorder Duo

Annette Gentleman and Felicity Squire will be providing short musical interludes during each half of the concert, using a wide variety of instruments, from the tiny garklein to the very large contra bass.  The music played will range from pieces written around 500 years ago (bearing in mind Layer Marney’s history), through to the present day.  Some of these pieces will also involve soprano voice (Sophie-Anne Chaplin) and harpsichord / piano accompaniment (Roberta Squire).

Ticket includes access to the Tower, Church and Gardens. The tea room and gift shop will also be open for light lunches, drinks and ice cream.
