Back in the office
We are back after the Christmas and New Year break and hope all our followers had a great festive time.
School visits have been a priority since our return. For many years most school children visiting the Tower came to learn about the Tudors. That all changed with the Curriculum changes in 2014 when the Tudors were no longer such an important subject for Primary Schools so we diversified and have built up a flourishing school visit business. Probably about 50% of our school visits are to learn about Tudors, and where better to come and learn about them? But now we also offer hugely popular days on Vikings, Stone Age, Normans, Saxons, Egyptians and more, much more. Egyptians are very popular in the run up to the February half term with the Stone Age days a close second.
We are fortunate to be able to offer school visits throughout the year, with our state of the art Biomass boiler we have warm rooms for teaching and for eating packed lunches, if the weather is kind we can use the grounds and gardens. The testimonials on this website will give you a feel for the fun and learning that goes on. If you are a teacher, parent or school governor, check out our education pages, you won’t be disappointed.
As well as taking lots of school bookings art this time of year, we are also busy talking to group leaders as they plan their 2019 tours. A Guided Tour at Layer Marney Tower is the very best way to learn about the history and get a feel for not only what it was like to live here as a Tudor, but what it is like to live here today. The tours are generally led by one of the owners, they are enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the fact that Layer Marney Tower is still a family home, makes it a fun outing for groups. We can do lunches or tea and cake, coffee on arrival or a cream tea. We have a Gift Shop and pretty gardens. So, think of us when you are planning a trip out for your club or society.
