Essex Wedding - Ceremonies
For wedding ceremonies – no other venues offer a more beautiful setting than Layer Marney Tower. The Corsellis Room is situated on the first floor and has a fine pincer beam roof, original wattle and daub walls, and polished oak flooring. There is a good sound system for you to play your music on, or you may prefer to have live music with a harpist, string trio or a lute player.
For medium sized weddings Tukes Chamber, which is next to The Corsellis Room, is suitable for weddings of up to about 50 guests. Hold your ceremony in Tukes Chamber and your Wedding Breakfast in The Corsellis Room. (Please note you are not able to have dancing in The Corsellis Room or Tukes Chamber)
For small weddings ceremonies the beautifully paneled Hall can seat up to 15 guests to make an intimate and unique ceremony unlike any other wedding venues in Essex.
Ceremonies after 6.00 p.m.
In October 2012 the rules governing Civil Ceremonies changed, allowing Wedding Ceremonies to take place after 6.00 p.m. At the discretion of the Colchester Registrars, we are happy to hold wedding ceremonies at a time to suit you.

Essex Wedding - Receptions
Layer Marney Tower offers a truly unique wedding reception venue in Essex. Wedding receptions take place in the Long Gallery, a beautiful room with oak flooring & panelling. You can seat up to 140 guests for a meal.
The Long Gallery is situated to the south of the Courtyard, within the formal gardens. The principal entrance has a magnificent staircase leading into the Gallery itself - a large oak floored room some 79’ x 19’, with a grand Jacobean fireplace and panelling. The views from the large windows reach to the Blackwater Estuary.
If you would like a smaller reception without dancing, you may use the Corsellis Room. The Ceremony can take place in Tukes Chamber, which is next to the Corsellis Room.
