The Long Gallery
The Long Gallery is a wonderful place to hold a party. It has a polished floor, wood paneling and a Jacobean fireplace. Originally built as the Stable and Carriage block, it was transformed in around 1911 into the stunning space it is today. The Long Gallery measures 79ft by 19ft.
There is a large entrance hall with a short staircase leading to the Long Gallery and another up to the minstrels' balcony. There is a ramp at the far end for those unable to use the stairs. The Long Gallery can comfortably seat up to 120 guests for a meal and can accommodate up to 150 for a stand up buffet. The acoustics are excellent, making it ideal for music, theatre, dancing and speeches - all things that most venues in Essex cannot boast.
If you want to recreate a Tudor banquet, the waiting staff will dress accordingly, and we can suggest entertainers who specialise in such antics as fire eating, juggling or jesting.
The modern heating system ensures warmth whatever the weather. The fine Jacobean fireplace can have a log fire burning.
Corsellis Room and Tuke’s Chamber
Tuke's Chamber and the Corsellis Room are situated on the first floor of the main building above what used to be the dairy, larder and bakery. There is a lift for those who cannot use the stairs. Both Tuke's Chamber and the Corsellis Room have fine pincer beam roofs, original wattle and daub walls and polished oak flooring. The Corsellis Room can comfortably seat 60 guests for a meal and up to 120 for a stand up buffet.

Garden Parties
Not only is Layer Marney Tower one of the most beautiful and historical venues in Essex but it is surrounded by extensive formal gardens, which in turn are encompassed by parkland and woodland. Garden parties can be organised from the Long Gallery or a marquee.
The two flat grass fields lying to the south, with a lovely view back to the Tower, are 25 acres and 17 acres respectively. They lend themselves to tournaments and outdoor activities. It is also a good car park for large garden parties.
Food and Drink
The catering at Layer Marney Tower is organised by the experienced team at Bouquet Garni. Their food is excellent, and they will do their utmost to assist with all your plans. They have a good range of menus which can be found on their website, from formal meal to a fork buffet. There is a fully licensed bar which is organised and run by Bouquet Garni. They can organise the wine for you or you may, if you wish, supply your own drinks for the reception or main meal, which Bouquet Garni’s wine waiters will serve for you.
